Indian Election Result, End of LTTE and New PM in Nepal

by admin on May 19, 2009

Last few days have been quite eventful in India and Indian neighborhood. Satarday on 16th May 2009, election result of 15th Loksabha in India was declared and Indian National Congress emerged clear winner with 206 seats. Though it felt short of simple majority, but it can be certainly said a mandate for Congress ( also claimed by many Congress Leaders). Its allies won 56 seats, so making UPA tally to 262 while BJP and its allies could win only 160 seats. Left parties fared worst in their history in India with 26 seats together! Other smaller parties like RJD (4), LJP(0), SP(22), AIDMK(9) are unlikely to play kingmakers role as it was projected.

There are two reasons for the spectacular success of Congress in this election

1. Rs. 60,000 loan waiver of farmers across the country.
2. Successful implementation of NREGA Sceme.

Failure of BJP

1. Nothing spectacular to offer to common people in India
2. Indiscipline among second line leaders.

Most probably, Indian voters have rightly identified UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to be best choice in this scenario.

As per report, in Sri Lanka, Army had successfully killed all top brass of LTTE including V Prabhakaran. So this effectivly ends LTTE chapter in Sri Lanka which waged a war against Sri Lanka for last 3 decades. This is an important event to watch and analyze. LTTE could successfully defeat a government Army and created state within state for almost two decades. But finally Sri Lankan Army had been successful in decimating LTTE.
