and North East India, separatist organisations called for boycotting of independence day celebration as per routine for last 30 years.
While India made progress in many fields, but it still having the largest number of poor people in the world. It still has districts ( Dhemaji, Assam) which gets disconnected on two days rain. While it has engineering marvel like Bandra Worli Sea Link, it has “Liberated Zones” by leftist Naxalites in central India in Chattishgarh where people die routinely in Malaria as well as for a meal a day.
While India has well developed space program, it has corruption infested public distribution system and even a prime minister had to remark, only 10 paise out of every 100 paise spent on poor reach them. It has a well developed democracy and boast as largest democracy in the world, still many criminals get elected even from jails.

In recently concluded election in Iran, on 12th June 2009, the incumbent, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won in big margin against his opponent Mir Hussein Moussavi. But since the result was declared, there has been lot of protest going accusing the ruling party of rigging the election.
People of Iran has been widely using internet as medium of protest and Twitter has been used to syncronize as well and exchange messages among protesters. This is a significant development in Iran, a country which western media portrays as a regressive government and western governments accuse of developing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) aimed at western world.

After UNSC ( United Nation Security Council ) condemned North Korea’s long range missile or satellite test, North Korea retorted by saying that “it was no longer bound by an international nuclear disarmament deal and would re-start its plant that makes arms-grade plutonium”.
It further says that “the six-country nuclear talks have become useless, and it will no longer be bound by any agreement being made at the six-party talks”.

SEOUL, April 14 (Reuters) – North Korea said on Tuesday it was no longer bound by an international nuclear disarmament deal and would re-start its plant that makes arms-grade plutonium after the U.N. chastised it for launching a long-range rocket.
The U.N. Security Council on Monday unanimously condemned North Korea’s long-range rocket launch nearly two weeks ago as contravening a U.N. ban, and demanded enforcement of existing sanctions against Pyongyang. Source.

As per report and as per schedule previously announced by North Korea, it has tested its new rocket on 5th April 2009.
SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea defied the United States, China and a series of United Nations resolutions by launching a rocket on Sunday that the country said was designed to propel a satellite into space, but that much of the world viewed as an effort to prove it is edging toward the capability to shoot a nuclear warhead on a longer-range missile.
