Recently Maoists beheaded one Police office, Francis Induwar in Jharkhand in the first week of October 2009. After that, Maoists abducted police officers, Atindranath Dutta, in West Bengal, whom they claimed to be prisoner of war.
Kolkata, Oct 22: Maoist leader Kishenji on Thursday, Oct 22, said that the kinapped police officer will be released as the women who were arrested by security forces from Lalgarh were granted bail. “Atindranath Dutta, who was taken as a Prisoner of War on Tuesday, Oct 20, from Sankrail police station, will be released,” he said over phone.
When asked if the government has accepted the demand of releasing the women, Kishenji said that there were 15 women altogether whose bail applications were taken up by a court. “They have got the bail. After they come back, we will release the officer-in-charge,” he said.
The Maoist leader did not reveal if anybody from the government side came for negotiation. “Right now, I cannot disclose anything more,” he said.
Assuring the family members of Dutta, Kishenji said, “I assure that he will be released. The Maoists never kill Prisoners of War.”
Arundhati Roy came out of support of unconditional talks with Naxalites today.

Government promptly slammed Naxalite sympathizers.
A day after four CISF jawans were killed in an attack by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, the Home Ministry on Monday slammed those supporting the Maoists.
According to a note released, the Home Ministry has condemned the attack on a Public Sector Unit (PSU) in Chhattisgarh and questioned the motive behind the violence. The ministry also states that pro-Maoist sympathisers must think over the violence by the Maoists. Source.
